 |
| BIOFEEDBACK:
Surface EMG can assist in teaching
muscle contraction as well as relaxation. |
BODY
MECHANICS AND TRAINING: Prevention
of re-injury by training appropriate
movement patterns for everyday activities. |
CRYOTHERAPY: Cryocuff,
crushed ice, gel ice packs and ice
cups are different ways of using
cold to reduce pain and inflammation. |
 |
 |
 |
| DYNAVISION:
Dynavision aids in re-educating the
body in balance and multi-tasking
with visual stimulation requiring
coordination of all balance systems. |
ELECTRICAL
STIMULATION: Chronic pain can be
controlled with transcutaneous electrical
nerve stimulation (TENS). Acute pain
and swelling can be controlled with
interferential current (IFC). Muscle
re-education is enhanced with the
use of neuromuscular electrical stimulation
(NMES), Russian, and Hi-Volt. |
HOME
EXERCISE PROGRAMS: Individualized
designed exercise program developed
by the therapy staff to enhance recovery
from injury or illness. |
 |
 |
 |
| IONTOPHORESIS:
Medication to decrease inflammation
and break up calcium is driven into
the area of injury using electrical
impulses. |
LOW-LEVEL
LASER LIGHT: Infrared red laser is
combined with low-level laser light
to aid in pain control and reduction
in scar tissue. |
MANUAL
THERAPY: Hands-on techniques
used to alleviate pain and improve
range of motion of soft tissue and
joints for functional mobility. |
Moist heat: Hot packs used to improve
tissue circulation, flexibility
and reduce pain.
Supplies: Resistant tubing and bands, pulleys, back supports,
shoe inserts, knee, ankle and shoulder braces and other items
available for use in the clinic and at home. Some of these
items may be available for purchase.
Taping Techniques: Taping methods used for proper alignment,
activation or relaxation of muscle tissues and joints.
|
 |
 |
TRACTION:
• Inversion
Chair: Places the body upside down
for distraction to the spine.
• Mechanical: Decompression of low back and neck tissues to stretch and
relieve pressure on nerves and joints.
• Home traction units: Over-the-door neck home traction unit available.
Staff will assist in necessary documentation for other low back or neck
specialty units for home use.
|
| THERAPEUTIC
EXERCISE: Individualized exercise
techniques designed to promote functional
return
and prevent re-injury. |
TRACTION:
Cottrell’s gravity assisted:
Gentle distraction applied to the lower back through use of gravity to stretch
and relieve pressure on nerves and joints. |
|
| ULTRASOUND:
Ultrasound can be used to help diminish
pain, promote healing and improve
soft tissue flexibility. |
 |
|
|
ULTRAVIOLET
B:
Upright light used for medical treatment
for psoriasis. |
