Aaron Cade (pictured on the right in orange) is a Viroqua native and father of two who is a registered representative with Raymond James Financial Services at Viroqua Bank. He and his young family participate in numerous sports and social activities. Cade plays golf 3-4 times per week, walks with his family and trains for local and semi-local marathon events.
Two years ago while playing golf with friends, Cade twisted his knee. At the time it appeared to be a strain, but after a period of time without recovery, Cade decided to schedule an appointment with Dr. Mark Romzek who specializes in sports injuries. Cade complained of a great deal of pain and as a young, fit and healthy individual, it was really starting to get in the way. "Every time I bent down to pick up my daughter my knee would hurt. Obviously I wasn't going to stop picking her up so I knew I needed to get it fixed right away."
After scheduling an MRI, Dr. Romzek determined that Cade's injury was a torn meniscus and recommended surgery. Cade praised Dr. Romzek for keeping him informed and for providing excellent patient care. "Dr. Romzek explained to me in detail what was going on with my knee. He showed me what he'd be doing to clean it up and allowed me to watch the surgery as well. It went exactly as he explained it would. Post-surgery, Dr. Romzek continued to please Cade with a phone call to check on his progress. "Dr. Romzek called me at home a few days after the surgery and I was extremely impressed with that. I expected a follow-up from a nurse, but to have the surgeon call me at home surpassed my expectations. I didn't feel like a number or just another surgery patient. I was always treated like I mattered." The recovery process was rapid for Cade who was eager to get back to his active lifestyle. He worked with Joe Willis in Physical Therapy who encouraged Cade to keep elevating and icing his knee after therapy. "It was a relatively quick recovery after surgery and therapy," said Cade. "I was back to work a few days after surgery." When asked about his experiences at Vernon Memorial Cade indicated that he was very satisfied. "Everything was great. I always felt like Dr. Romzek and the therapists were listening to me. They knew what I wanted to achieve and helped me to remember that during every step of the process."
