How can I donate blood?
Vernon Memorial Healthcare currently partners with The Blood Center of Wisconsin as a supplier of the majority of our blood needs. We also offer a special program where qualified patients donate their own blood ahead of time for planned surgical procedures. This is called autologous donation. We host several blood drives at VMH each year. Check out our Event Keeper schedule to learn about the next blood drive.
Vernon Memorial Healthcare assists the BloodCenter of Wisconsin by recruiting volunteer donors and hosting blood drives in the hospital community rooms. The Blood Center of Wisconsin provides life-saving blood products to 54 community hospitals throughout the state. The Blood Center provides all of the blood for patients at Vernon Memorial Hospital and area hospitals in La Crosse, Sparta, Arcadia, Tomah, Hillsboro and Richland Center. Nearly 800 donors are needed every day to help maintain the supply to local hospitals served by The Blood Center of Wisconsin. The Blood Center of Wisconsin is a not-for-profit organization specializing in blood collection and distribution, diagnostic testing, medical services and research.
