The Emergency Department at Vernon Memorial Healthcare treats a diverse mixture of patients and medical problems 24 hours a day. Attending staff physicians, medical providers, nurses, emergency medical technicians and paramedics provide around the clock patient care. More than 6,600 emergency cases are treated each year.
In addition to emergency medicine the department provides telephone triage assistance to assist callers in determining the degree of medical emergency as well as advice on what action to take.
The VMH Emergency Department serves as a clinical training site for EMS students, who are required to work in an emergency room prior to receiving their license.
