Vernon Memorial Healthcare’s Trauma Response Team plans the care of trauma patients even prior to their arrival in the VMH Emergency Room (ER). Local Emergency Medical Services responding to an emergency, alert the ER as early as possible with information concerning the condition of trauma patients being transported to the hospital.
When the call comes in, Emergency room staff alert personnel that are to assist in the care of these patients. The team is ready and waiting when the patient arrives so that quick diagnostics, treatment and possible transfer arrangements can be expedited. The team approach to treating trauma victims is designed to improve the outcomes of severely injured patients. Members of the Trauma Response Team undergo continuing education on injury prevention and quality improvement measures.
