Youth Dance
VMH Youth Dance is open to any child ages 3-18 years that is interested in learning and performing ballet, tap, jazz or hip hop dance.
Class Levels:
Pre-Ballet: 3 & 4 year olds
Intro to Ballet and Tap: 5 & 6 year olds (kindergarten or first grade)
Ballet I, Jazz I, Tap I, Hip Hop I: 2nd & 3rd grade, and/or by teacher recommendation
Ballet II, Jazz II, Tap II, Hip Hop II: 4th and 5th grade practical test and/or by teacher recommendation
Ballet III, Jazz III, Tap III, Hip Hop III: 6th grade or higher, practical test and/or by teacher recommendation
Level IV: Teacher recommendation and practical test
VMH Youth Dance classes are held in Community Rooms 1,2 and 3 located on the lower level of Vernon Memorial Hospital. Find your way through he main entrance and take the elevator to the basement. Please contact the VMH Wellness Center @ 637-4290 for more info.
Meet Our Dance Instructors...
| Heidi Hamilton | Heidi is a Westby High School science teacher. She has been dancing for 30 years and has taught for 10 of those years. She performed with the Hartford Ballet Company and has received scholarships to train nationally. Heidi produces technically sound dancers and truly enjoys sharing her love of dance with others. |
| Lisa Vatland | Lisa is a first grade teacher and has been dancing for 37 years. She has taught dance for 10 years and has focused on technique and performance. Lisa has danced in multiple LKC productions of the "Nutcracker" and has enjoyed teaching grant funded classes for "Very Special Arts Wisconsin", a dance company designed for children with disabilities. |
| Kris Bergdahl | Kris is a kindergarten teacher who has been dancing for 30 years. She has also taught dance for 10 of those years. Kris has a very strong passion for dance and has choreographed for local dance programs and performances for local universities. |
| Abbey Lehmann | Abbey has a degree in early childhood education. She has studied dance for 16 years and has attended workshops covering a variety of dance styles. Through her dance experience, Abbey learned confidence, discipline and motivation. Abbey's goal for her students is to develop those same characteristics in themselves that will carry them beyond the dance floor. |
