Dr. Katie B. Williams, MD, PhD, is a compassionate and dedicated pediatric geneticist at the Center for Special Children, a program of Vernon Memorial Healthcare, and La Farge Medical Clinic. Her professional journey has been deeply influenced by her rural roots and a commitment to serving communities with genetic disorders.
Growing up on a small dairy farm in southeastern Wisconsin, Dr. Williams developed a profound appreciation for rural life. After completing her medical training and gaining
Katie Williams, MD over valuable experience practicing out of state, she felt a strong pull to return to her home state, where she now resides with her husband and three sons.
Dr. Williams’ inspiration to pursue a career in medicine was fueled by a unique experience early in her career. She had the opportunity to work at a clinic in rural Pennsylvania, serving families from Plain communities dealing with genetic disorders. This experience left a lasting impact on her, motivating her to seek additional training in medical genetics. She is now dedicated to providing similar specialized care to Plain communities in the Midwest.
As part of the Center for Special Children (CSC), Dr. Williams specializes in caring for children with genetic disorders or complex medical needs. Her role encompasses providing general pediatric medical care and conducting diagnostic evaluations, particularly for children with complex issues related to genetic disorders.
Dr. Williams holds Board Certification in General Pediatrics and is a proud member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Her career has been marked by a focus on patient-centered care, with an emphasis on understanding each family’s unique perspective and concerns. She values the trust she builds with families and believes in collaborating with them to provide the best possible care for their child.
In her role, she finds immense joy in connecting with the families she serves and is dedicated to making healthcare accessible and meaningful to them.
